Atari Gets Ghostbusters & Riddick Games
It’s odd to be sourcing Variety for a story like this, but I guess since the titles we’re discussing are based on popular movies it does make sense... In any event, Variety reports this morning that Atari have acquired the publishing rights for both Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena and the new Ghostbusters video game, both of which were declined by Vivendi Games when they merged with Activision Blizzard this summer.
The Chronicles of Riddick game is a sequel to the very popular (for good reason) Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay. Atari now has licensing rights to make yet another game if this one does well. The Ghostbusters game was not publicly part of the deal, but an insider confirmed it was with Atari, who plan on releasing it this summer in conjunction with the film’s 25th anniversary.
And, of course, if the Ghostbusters game does well, which it damn well better; Atari has the rights to make more down the road. Which they damn well better. Check out the official Ghostbusters game site to learn more about it and scroll down a bit to see our gameplay footage from Comic Con with creator commentary!

About time they started working on a new Riddick game! The first one kicked all sorts of ass.

I wouldn't know. It's not compatible with my 360. That really sucks.

It's largely a remake of the first game because it wasn't compatible with the 360.
