Slashers

Well, kids, it looks like we have yet another flick to add to the remake pile and, as is occurring more and more these days, it's gonna be in *surprise* 3D!

Stewart Hendler's Sorority Row remake is chugging along quite nicely with some really good news for us slasher-fan faithful - it will be rated R and not PG-13 as everyone has been speculating. Violence, nudity, and gore in a slasher redux? There is a God!

Filmax International has released the second trailer for Daniel Benmayor's Spanish thriller Paintball, and guess what? It actually features some footage from the film. What a novel idea! Dig it!

The English language trailer for Daniel Benmayor's slasher/shooter film Paintball has just splatted itself on the the web, and as expected it's wonderfully messy!

I wasn't quite as big a fan of Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon (reviews here) as some of the folks in the Dread Central offices, but I'm still pretty stoked to hear that a sequel is possibly in the works.

If you're going to make a slasher movie about the psychopathic proprietor of an adult ice cream shop then why not title the film Hot Blood Sundae? That way, even if the film proves awful, at least it has a memorable title.

We'll be the first to admit it ... we're kind of looking forward to the remake of the Eighties slasher The House of Sorority Row, now known simply as Sorority Row. Everything we've seen thus far has been pretty cool including this new teaser poster courtesy of Summit Entertainment.

Now this just warms our black little hearts. A couple of weeks ago we told you about the sequel to the remake of The Toolbox Murders, and now just days later the film has a site, a synopsis, a teaser poster, and one of the most badass and violent teaser videos I've seen in years. There's good reason to get excited folks! Praise be the sequel gods!

In case you're wondering why the news updates were so scarce here yesterday it was because we were in LA attending an industry screening for Dave Parker's The Hills Run Red. We do get to leave the office every now and again, ya know. It happens. I swear. Anyway -- wow, was this one worth the trip!

Completing our coverage of the new slasher (or should I say shooter?) flick Paintball, we now have the official one-sheet available for your perusal.

It may not have won over a lot of Dread Central readers' hearts, but "Harper's Island" isn't doing so poorly that it's being canceled. However, CBS is moving the show to Saturday night ... not exactly a ringing endorsement.

Been avoiding thinking about the upcoming remake of 1983 slasher The House on Sorority Row known as simply Sorority Row? If so, you may want to put it on your maybe it won't be so bad after all list ... if its three female co-stars can be believed.

Just yesterday we told you about the looming possibility of Eli Roth's Thanksgiving becoming a feature length movie. Today we heard exclusively from Roth with a couple of more tidbits for you!

You know we love you guys. So much so in fact that we decided that just one clip from the uncut version of Slaughter High (review) was not enough! We needed two! So we asked the video gods (*cough* Lionsgate *cough*) for yet another taste! This one a bit messier!

Every once in a while things work out like the fans are hoping. It's been almost exactly two years since Grindhouse was released and we were treated to its fake trailers, which included Eli Roth's well received "Thanksgiving", and today we learned that a feature length version could very well become a reality.
