A few years before he directed the films for which he's best known like Meatballs, Stripes and Ghost Busters, Ivan Reitman tried his hand at spoofing the horror genre with a little flick called Cannibal Girls, which is the topic of this week's Motion Picture Purgatory.
Synopsis:
William Shatner. Not since his iconic portrayal of Captain James Tiberius Kirk has he ever played as ridiculously masculine a character as he did in Kingdom of the Spiders. His character's name? "Rack" Hansen. That's right, "Rack" Friggin' Hansen, and he can take out your stupid eye and steal your woman with nothing more than a mere glance shot your way via his razor sharp animal magnetism!
As we said when the announcement first came that Kingdom of the Spiders was getting a special edition DVD release, if you've never seen William Shatner's portrayal of manly man Rack Hansen, shame on you! If you don't have any idea what I'm talking about, then you NEED to watch the DVD trailer and clips for the film provided by Shout! Factory.
If you've never seen William Shatner's seminal portrayal of Rack Hansen in the 1977 film Kingdom of the Spiders, shame on you! However, come January, 2010, you'll be able to redeem yourself as Shout! Factory will be releasing a Special Edition UNCUT version of the film on DVD.
It's amazing how now that DVD is waning in popularity, thereby giving way to Blu-ray, how many movies we've been wanting forever are making the digital jump. Next up to the plate -- The Stepfather.
Shout! Factory has announced the impending release of four new episodes of the great and grand Mystery Science Theater 3000.

A few days back we showed you the artwork for Mystery Science Theater 3000: 20th Anniversary Edition but had zero details as to what would be on it. With the arrival of Comic Con and all things geeky, that has now changed dramatically!
What is it? What’s going to be on it? My God, has it really been 20 years since this show was on?
