RIP Sheldon Dorf, San Diego Comic-Con Co-Founder

Around these parts you'll hear us bitch and moan a lot about the San Diego Comic-Con and how much it takes out of us each year, but there's no denying the impact the event has had on the film industry and pop-culture as a whole ... nor how much fun is derived from it year after year. It's with a heavy heart that we pass on the news that SDCC co-founder Sheldon "Shel" Dorf has passed away at age 76.

RIP Dick Durock

Without a doubt the hardest part of our job reporting on the latest horror news is when one of our own is taken from us. We're very sad to inform you that Dick Durock, best known for his role as the "Swamp Thing", passed away last week at his home in Oak Park, California, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.

RIP Patrick Swayze

It is with a heavy heart that we report tonight that Patrick Swayze (Donnie Darko) has lost his battle with pancreatic cancer at the all too young age of 57.

Rest in Peace: Clayton Hill

When you go to many various conventions, you start to see a lot of the same smiling faces over and over again. As a result you become a road family of sorts. Clayton Hill had a smile I'll never forget, and it's with a very heavy heart that we report he is no longer with us.

In Memoriam: Lou Gentile

When you do what we do for a living, you end up meeting a lot of people on the road. In a way, we become sort of like a family. Some you see only on occasion, and some you become truly close with. Lou Gentile was one of those people whom you can easily connect with. At least that's the way it was for me. It's with a heavy heart that I say that he's gone.

In some really startling news, the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, has died today at the all too young age of 50 due to what appears to be cardiac arrest.

We're very sad to report the news this morning that David Carradine has passed away in Bangkok, Thailand.

RIP: Author and Parapsychologist Hans Holzer

We became aware of a bit of sad news today: Hans Holzer, celebrated parapsychologist and author of numerous books about the paranormal, the most famous of which is undoubtedly Murder at Amityville (1979), the basis for the film Amityville II: The Possession, has passed away at the age of 89.

RIP: Marilyn Chambers

The adult film industry and quite a few horror fans lost another star today as Marilyn Chambers, best known by our community for her role in David Cronenberg's Rabid, passed away at the all too young age of fifty-seven.

UPDATED: Lou Perryman's Passing a Possible Murder

Lou Perryman, perhaps best known to fans as "L.G." from Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, was found dead by police in his South Austin home after being tipped off to the crime by the suspect himself.

RIP Angel's Andy Hallett

In some shockingly sad news "Angel"'s Andy Hallett has passed away due to heart disease at the much too young age of just 33.

Rest in Peace: Ron Silver

Yet another wonderful character actor has left us way before his time. Ron Silver has passed away at age 62.

It's never easy to say goodbye, and I am sad to report that's exactly what we must do as we've lost another of our own. Robert Quarry has passed on.

RIP: Kim Manners

Today is a sad day for those of us who love our televised horror TV shows, as producer / director Kim Manners has passed away. Manners who has worked most recently on "Supernatural" lost his battle with cancer on Sunday. Kim directed more episodes of the show than anyone else including every season finale. He also worked on "Brisco County, Jr." and "The X-files".
