House of 1,000 Doors: Palm of Zoroaster Collector's Edition is the newest title from Alawar, and it is a direct sequel to the hit title House of 1,000 Doors: Family Secret. The collector's edition game comes packed with plenty of extra goodies that make a great game even better. In additon to the full game, you'll also gain instant access to features such as concept art, wallpapers for your computer and a detailed walkthrough to ensure you find everything the game has to offer.

You will once again find yourself in control of the protagonist from the first game, Kate Reed--a struggling horror author and a newly discovered medium. Kate is summoned back to the House of 1,000 Doors when a strange presence begins terrorizing the area by burning objects, boiling water unexpectedly and using heat in other ways to disturb the house's occupants. Kate will once again have to summon up the courage and master her own powers in order to learn the meaning behind the spiritual body of energy's appearance and stop it before any more damage is done. The story is a compelling one that doesn't require players to know the extensive history of the game series, although it is recommended that you try out the original game first.

The game's storyline is very interesting from start to finish, and it rewards you with a great ending and an unlockable bonus chapter upon completion of the game.

House of 1,000 Doors: Palm of Zoroaster Collector's Edition is another great hidden object game from the folks over at Alawar, and if you're unfamiliar with this genre of games, you're really missing out. Your journey through the game will involve solving a variety of ingeniously designed puzzles evenly distributed throughout the course of the game. You'll gain the items necessary to solve the puzzles through finding long lists of hidden items within a work of art depicting a scene from the game. There are plenty of unique mini-games for you to encounter and solve spread throughout the game as well.

House of 1,000 Doors: Palm of Zoroaster Collector's Edition takes the classic formula a few improved steps beyond what other hidden object games do however. For starters, hidden items are scattered in every environment in the game, so you'll have to keep your eyes peeled even when you aren't completing one of the game's many hidden object scenes. The scenes themselves have been improved as well. Rather than simply going down the complete list of items from the start of the scene, you'll have to progress through the list and recover items in a certain order. Also, the scenes are now more interactive than ever before, and they often times require you to solve a few puzzles or find multiple objects to find one whole item.

Along with the new enhanced HUD, the game brings back old standbys such as the hint meter, which is used to find out what you need to do next, and optional game difficulties. The game hasn't seen very many graphical advancements, and it still relies on producing animations from beautiful works of art rather than using sophisticated computer generated images, although this really isn't a bad thing. The game also features a chilling soundtrack that sets up the perfect tone of the game from the get go with an eerie organ tune on the main menu.

Alawar has once again outdone themselves and produced a great game that can be purchased for a low price. The unique style of gameplay can't be found anywhere else, and you'll still find this game enjoyable long after completing it. If you have ever enjoyed hidden object games in the past, you'll love this game as well, and if you've never tried out the genre, House of 1,000 Doors: Palm of Zoroaster Collector's Edition is a good place to start. You can download the trial or purchase the full version of House of 1,000 Doors: Palm of Zoroaster Collector's Edition on the official Alawar website.
