Cats – you either are a fan or you’re not, and due to my allergic reaction to the devious little hairballs I haven’t owned one since I was a kid. But what I do remember of my feline friend was that even though she was a wonderful companion, deep down I always felt like she had a much darker side to her once the moon showed up…too many horror movies perhaps. Anyway, director Chris Jopp takes the mysterious inquiry to light with his short film, titled Meow, and the question is begged: just what evil lies in the hearts of kitties?

Starring Eleonore Dendy as a woman who moves into an apartment building, and her stick-in-the-mud landlord (Hubbell) has a strict “no pets” policy that she may or may not be adhering to (wink, wink). You see, she’s just adopted a stray from the alley down below her place, and after the cute little fuzzball takes up residency, some very disturbing events begin to surface up from the litterbox. Could her precious new addition be the one responsible for such heinous actions? Will she manage to keep the secret from her bothersome landlord? Only the ones willing to check out this short will find the answers, while others will be left in the dark, but rest assured that it is a fun little quickie despite the inanity of it all, but isn’t that the point – suspend belief and enjoy it? Give this a look when it climbs into your lap and curls into a purring ball of fur…but pay no attention to the bloodstains around its mouth.
