Rest in Peace: Robert Quarry (1925-2009)

It’s never easy to say goodbye, and I am sad to report that’s exactly what we must do as we’ve lost another of our own. Robert Quarry has passed on.
Quarry was a true gentleman and icon in our genre. He delighted fans the world over as the evil vampire Count Yorga as well as by making some very memorable appearances in other genre fare such as Dr. Phibes Rises Again and the blaxploitation zombie opus Sugar Hill.
He spent the last few months of his life in the Actor’s Home in California and then in their hospital. He passed away Friday, February 20, 2009.
We here at Dread Central would like to offer our sincerest of condolences to Robert’s friends, family, and constituents. You will be missed, sir.
