Resident Evil 5

You know, there was a time when we were excited about a new Resident Evil flick coming out. Lately? Not so much. Still, the film franchise does have its fans, and star Milla Jovovich took to Twitter today to talk a little bit about the upcoming sequel with fans who follow her.

While there is no confirmed director or any other cast members at the moment, we do know one thing about the fifth film in the Resident Evil franchise ... Jill Valentine will be back and packing heat.

Resident Evil 5 hits store shelves next Friday, and I'm sure everyone interested will dive head first into the ghastly goodness that is the latest frightful chapter in this series. But what do we do after the last bullet has been fired in the game's main story?

If you live in the LA area, here's your chance to give back to the community and also score some cool stuff for yourself. On Friday, March 13, Capcom will usher in the launch of Resident Evil 5 by partnering with the American Red Cross to host a blood drive.

We don't have a lot of details other than the teaser image below, but Nomad just sent over an update from the marketing team at Hot Toys letting us know that the company has acquired the Resident Evil 5 (or Biohazard 5 as it's known in Japan) license from Capcom and will be releasing 1/6th scale collectible figures under their Video Game Masterpieces Series.

For a while now we’ve know Capcom was planning on something cool to justify their $90 price tag for the Collector’s Edition of Resident Evil 5, it’s the specifics we were not sure of. Finally the details have been revealed and I have to say yes, it sure as hell is worth the extra $30!

Good news, oh lovers of all things Resident Evil! Kotaku has learned that the demo for Resident Evil 5 will be debuting exclusively on Xbox 360 for one week on January 26th, 2009, then showing up on Playstation 3 February 2nd!

With the Xbox 360 Resident Evil 5 demo hitting Japan earlier this week, naturally some effort was put into getting our hands on it sooner rather than later, and now we can report back on how the game is looking and how well the demo plays.

While I do wake up in a cold sweat sometimes with thoughts of a fourth Resident Evil movie rolling around in my brain pan, I’m usually able to get back to sleep realizing that the fourth movie isn’t a sure thing (yet) but Resident Evil 5, the game, is on its way.
