Well before he hit the big time as Eomer in LOTR: The Two Towers and LOTR: Return of the King, Karl Urban caught our eye in a little Kiwi flick called The Irrefutable Truth About Demons. And now it looks like he'll be returning to his horror roots in Screen Gems' Priest as he was cast to play the film's big bad known as Black Hat.

Fans who might be disappointed that the film version of Jonah Hex seems to have dropped most of its supernatural elements can take pleasure in knowing that so far Screen Gems' Priest is very much calling itself a horror-Western. And it shouldn't be lacking in the action department either thanks to today's announcement that Maggie Q has joined the cast.

Now that Paul Bettany is making the rounds to promote his upcoming dark action flick Legion, he’s finally ready to set his sights on his next film, Priest. Priest reunites the actor with director Scott Stewart, who also helmed Legion. He was on hand at Comic-Con to discuss his latest jump into the action film genre.

Horror westerns seem to be an oddly hot commodity these days what with quality flicks like The Burrowers already out and Jonah Hex on the way. Another unlikely horror commodity is Cam Gigandet, who has just signed on to star opposite Paul Bettany in the live action adaptation of Tokyo Pop's horror western comic book Priest.

The long-gestating adaptation of the Tokyo Pop comic Priest is finally seeing some movement this morning. THR reports that Orphanage co-founder Scott Charles Stewart will be taking the reigns on Priest, with the backing of Screen Gems.

Got it ready? A whole assload of release dates have been announced all of a sudden, and a few are even for horror films! Check it out: The Nicole Kidman thriller The Visting, which I just cannot find myself getting excited for in the least, has been pushed to November 2nd, 2007. Seems there are others who didn’t find it too exciting either.
