Set to premiere at this month’s Sundance Film Festival, Rob Zombie’s 31 is one of our most anticipated horror releases of the year, and it won’t be long before we all get to inject the madness directly into our eyeballs. Today brings a couple of updates, so read on if you can’t wait for this one.

First up, Zombie revealed over on his Facebook page today that the MPAA has granted 31 an R rating, which he got only after submitting at least three different cuts to them – their original rating was NC-17, a label that would essentially mean the film couldn’t be released in most theaters.

But have no fear, because Zombie says the unrated cut will be available on DVD and Blu-ray.

In addition, Zombie unveiled the film’s first official poster, which you can check out below!

Zombie’s latest cinematic endeavor features an impressive cast, including Meg Foster as Venus Virgo; Judy Geeson as Sister Dragon; Jeff Daniel Phillips as Roscoe; Jane Carr as Sister Serpent; Richard Brake as Doom-Head; Ginger Lynn as Cherry Bomb, Doom-Head’s very special friend; Malcolm McDowell as Father Murder, the owner of Murder World; David Ury as Schizo-Head; Daniel Roebuck as Pastor Victor; Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs as Panda Thomas, the manager of a traveling roadshow known as “The Venus Lux Happy Time Fun Show”; Pancho Moler as Sick-Head; Tracy Walter as Lucky Leo; E.G. Daily as Sex-Head; and Torsten Voges as Death-Head as well as Sheri Moon Zombie, Lew Temple, Bari Suzuki, and Devin Sidell.

Synopsis:
31 tells the story of five carnies in 1976 kidnapped on the morning of Halloween and held hostage in a remote industrial Hell. While trapped, they are forced to play a violent game called 31. The mission is to survive 12 hours against an endless gang of grease— painted maniacs.
