The latest entry in the saga of vampires vs. werewolves, Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, is due out in theaters on January 23rd, so doesn’t it seem odd that there’s been so little publicity for it in the last few months? That ends now!

I may be no fan of the previous installments, but the third Underworld flick, Rise of the Lycans, is actually looking pretty decent. And it's not just because Rhona Mitra looks damn hot in armor!

Reporting on Comic-Con, but not actually being there is pretty depressing for that first week, then everyone starts uploading videos they "shouldn't" have taken at the event and it's like we're there. OK, not really .... but I'll fake it for now.

The Underworld films actually improved from the first to the second, so one can only hope the third will follow suit. The directorial debut of effects man Patrick Tatopoulos, Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, goes back to the beginning of the feud between the vampires and the werewolves.

Just a few days back it was reported that a new Underworld movie was getting ready to roll in New Zealand ("Kiwis in the Underworld" – October 2007), but that was literally all the information we had on it.

There are those who love the Underworld series and those who hate it. If you're a fan of the flicks, I've got good news for you -- and it comes all the way from New Zealand.
