Bloody Death Race Clip

The more I see of Paul Anderson’s remake of Death Race 2000, more depressed I get. While we’re all for more blood and carnage, this version of DR has no identity of its own. Everything from the cars down to the characters just feel generic. But at least there will be blood…

IGN posted a new clip from Death Race, in theatres August 22, with plenty of death to go around, but its the kind of violence that doesn’t really pay off. You’ll see what I mean below when some chick takes a giant spinning metal spike to her side and hardly seems to move. Someone has never seen a blender in action … that’s for sure.

Why does it not surprise me that Anderson has come up with yet ANOTHER slice of shit? Say what you like about Boll, but at least he comes up with the goods (Occasionally), and damnit, he’s got a sense of humour! (That’s humor if you’re on the wrong side of the pond!)..

I think it is because Anderson opted for a cliche script that practically feels like it was left over from some ’90s direct-to-video flick. Everything about it is “been there, done that”. It would help if some of the cars or characters had charm. Hell, even if Anderson had taken some creative risks like the original, I’d be a little more enthusiastic about it.

That was somewhat cool, but at the same time I feel nothing watching that clip. No oh I have to see this, or man this movie is going to suck; it’s just there and I can’t bring myself to care about it at all.
