Perlman on Hellboy III

Perlman on Hellboy III possibilitiesThough nothing’s been put to paper yet, speculation about Hellboy III is already starting to stir among the cast of second film, specifically Big Red himself, Ron Perlman.

Moviehole chatted up Perlman recently about the possibility of a third Hellboy, and considering “>Hellboy II: The Golden Army (review) opened at number one and is fast approaching the $100 million mark, it’s almost a no-brainer. “This ride we’re on, opening number one at the box office, that’s just icing on what was already the most delicious cake I’d ever bitten into,” Perlman told the site. “Nothing’s been announced, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a third, particularly on the heels of Hellboy II’s success. And I know Guillermo has an incredibly well articulated idea about what the third movie needs to be. It’ll answer a lot of questions. It almost needs to happen because with the ideas that he has about closing the trilogy, it would be a shame for it to go unfinished.”

Del Toro’s said in many interviews that a third film would give the series a very satisfying conclusion so, other than money and time issues (he’s going to be a bit busy with The Hobbit for the next few years), I can’t see why this wouldn’t happen.

Hopefully we’ll have more solid news soon!
