More Names for Friday Redux

Danielle Panabaker added to Friday castSome final casting bits found their way online today for the upcoming Friday the 13th sequel, which starts rolling very soon over in Austin, TX under the direction of Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake helmer Marcus Nispel.

The Hollywood Reporter got word that Danielle Panabaker (Mr. Brooks) has grabbed the lead female spot for the reinvention of the Jason Voorhees mythology, playing the adventurous and athletic girlfriend of what the trade describes as an “alpha male”, who will be played by Travis van Winkle (Transformers).

Jonathan Sadowski (Live Free or Die Hard) and Aaron Yoo (Disturbia) have also joined the cast, playing a techie with way too much knowledge of Camp Crystal Lake and a quirky guy who likes pretty girls, respectively.

We’re in the 11th hour now, folks; this remake really is happening. Kind of hard to believe, after all these years, isn’t it?

Somewhere Kane Hodder just went: ECK! and wonders why…He may never find out. (Thanks Terminal…sorry for ripping it off, I just couldn’t resist)

Maybe thanks to PD’s excellent track record of making quality remakes, Jason will be in the business of giving the female campers “the business.”

There. Right there is where they can fit in all the dirt and grit. A nasty Jason Voorhees rape scene. Just get it over with. Throw in a NIN song in there too.

  • Blockbuster

It started out as revenge for his mom…but now I think he just has too much fun doing it. In the words of Megadeth:

Killing is my business…and business is good. (Yeah, I know that was based on The Punisher…so what.)

  • Terminal

They’ve always been hazy. Does he kill for revenge of his mother, or for revenge on the camp counselors?

  • Blockbuster

No…Jason kills ANYONE who crosses his path as a revenge for killing his mother…originally. Now…it’s just more like he’s a supernatural unstoppable force…(see: Jason Lives, The New Blood, and later.)

  • Terminal

But WHY kill the teens then? The whole point was Jason kills Camp Counselors because he was left to drown by camp counselors.

  • PelusaMG

Maybe if the tunnels are used they will suggest that the Vorhees family (or Mrs V), conceived the whole Camp Crystal thing as a way of luring teens in to kill? That way the tunnels would have been in place before the buildings…

  • Terminal

If they go with the underground tunnels thing, I will piss acid. Who made the tunnels? Why didn’t anyone know about them? And most importantly, will Goldie Hawn pop up to scream, “Sock to me!”?

  • frank_dracman

I really like the underground tunnels idea. Would explain why he just pops up out of nowhere, why the bodies are never seen untill he wants the kids to, why they never hear him coming, and, of course, why he always looks dirty! Oh god, I’m getting a little giddy. pleasedontsuckpleasedontsuckpleasedontsuck…

I keep thinking that Johnny should be putting “Names” in quotation marks when he posts a story about the F13 remake.

  • Terminal

    “God I hope so!”

Oh yeah, it has definite, erm… possibilities…

  • Johnny Butane

    God I hope so!

  • Terminal

Yep, and it’s difficult to swallow. Are they still going with those underground tunnels ideas?
