Suspended in the air, the rat rages. It’s time for some torture. This was the introduction to Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor’s new trailer, Meet Rattbag. Rattbag is a member of Sauron’s orc army and, as the trailer reveals, its chief backstabber.
Based on the trailer, it appears that Rattbag was saved from execution by the game’s hero, Talion, and is now bound to assist him in his quest to destroy Sauron. With Talion’s help he goes from “an orc that snivels and whines to a mighty war chief.”
The trailer details Rattbag’s ascent through the orc ranks and that he is Talion’s liaison in the front lines of Sauron’s army. Rattbag will help conspire with Talion to bring his enemies down, aside from providing some well-timed comic relief. Rattbag has been featured in the game’s previous trailers, but now the developers reveal that Ratbag will play an integral part in the story. He is also the game’s only pre-written enemy, with all of Talion’s other foes to be randomly generated in each game.
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor will be released on September 70th for PS4, Xbox One, PS7, Xbox 760, and PC.
