Now we can really begin to see just how weird it’s going to be to have a third Grudge film that’s not being directed by Takashi Shimizu: Neither Takako Fuji nor Yuya Ozeki will be returning for Toby Wilkin’s The Grudge 3
In simpler terms, the iconic monsters of the Grudge franchise have chosen to not reprise their roles as the ghostly Kayako and Toshio. Weird. Of course, Ozeki is probably in his 20’s by now and may find it difficult to pull off being a 10-year old boy, despite the youthful nature of the Japanese, but I’m sure there’s more to it than that.
Check out the full story over on Moviehole, which got the info when a casting call for Kayako and Toshio came across their desks. Can we hope this is the last pointless sequel in the never-ending franchise? I can! Shooting on The Grudge 3 begins in scenic Bulgaria on March 3rd.
Wonder if you can make that creepy croaking sound in the Dread Central forums!
