More Names on the Wolfman List

The Wolfman still looking for a directorNever before have I seen or heard of a film get the kind of directorial list that The Wolf Man is getting now that the original helmer Mark Romanek is off and likely crying in a beer someplace.

AICN added to the name list that’s already included Bill Condon (Gods & Monsters), Frank Darabaont (The Mist) and Joe Johnston (Jurassic Park III). According to their sources they’ve heard that Neil Marshall (The Descent, Doomsday) is pursuing the project, as is John Landis (An American Werewolf in London); both of whom have done kick ass werewolf films of their own already. Guillermo del Toro is also mentioned, but something tells me he’s going to be a bit too busy if The Hobbit deal goes through to focus on this.

Personally I’d love to see any of those directors get it, but Marshall, Darabont and Landis have to be my top choices. If it makes your heart beat any more regularly, the AICN boys also heard that Brett Ratner is out of the running already, hopefully due in no small part to the incredible online backlash against the very concept of him directing.

Should be interesting to see who rises to the top in this contest; stay tuned for updates as we get ‘em!
