Gellar Still Crazy for Alice

Gellar still wants to be Alice, of courseTime to squash all those rumors about Sarah Michelle Gellar vacating the long-gestating adaptation of American McGee’s Alice. And who better to do the squashing than Gellar herself?

In a recent interview with Radio Free, Gellar had the following to say about the movie; ”It’s a passion project of mine. It’s a story that I’d love to see. I’m fearful at this rate that I’m going to be the Queen of Hearts because I’m going to be too old to be Alice. [laughs] It’s something I’d really like to see done. And unfortunately, it was the victim of regime change in the studio. I’m not getting out.Contrary to what you may have read, it’s still my project. [laughs] And I’m still working diligently. So to all those Alice fans, I’m not giving up. Because I believe there is such a beautiful, crazy, cool, twisted story to be told there. [jokes] And if I have to get down and write it myself one of these days, I may have to…”

Well then, there you go; Gellar still wants to makes sure this happens, though one can’t help but wonder (somewhat cynically, I admit) if it’s just because it’d be a pretty high-profile role for her, something she’s not had in quite a while.

Ah, who am I kidding? I love Gellar and hope the best for her, even when she makes questionable choices (The Return anyone?) and I especially hope Alice gets made sooner rather than later. Keep it here for updates, damnit!
