Theron Hits The Road

Charlize Theron has joined The RoadI think this is probably the best cast, pay scale-wise, to ever be assembled for a movie that is, at its heart, about cannibals.

Variety got word this morning that Charlize Theron has officially signed on to star alongside Viggo Mortensen in the upcoming adaptation of the Cormac McCarthy novel The Road which, you may recall, is one of those books Oprah hypnotized her viewers into reading.

Though the part is small, Theron plays Mortensen’s wife and will only be seen in flashbacks, she jumped aboard because she was a fan of the novel. Meaning Oprah used her mind powers yet again.

For those questioning; The Road is the tale of a father (Mortensen) who embarks on a trip across a post-apocalyptic landscape filled with cannibals in the hopes of getting his son to safety. The Proposition helmer John Hillcoat is directing. Shooting starts next month so you’ll be hearing more soon!
