The hype for Aliens Vs. Predator: Requiem continues to build and so far everything we’ve seen from it indicates it’s fully justified. The Brothers Strause knew what they were doing going into this, what worked and didn’t work about the first one and most importantly; knew what to do to make this one kick ass.
A visit to the effects lab just popped up over on Arrow in the Head that further solidifies the duo’s place in our geeky hearts. Check out this bit, from Brother Craig, discussing their struggle with coming up with the look for the Predalien; ”The biggest issue we had with the design is because were going so dark with the movie, and there’s a lot of rain and atmosphere and everything… is a normal person going to be able to watch the movie and tell the difference?” Wise men, they are, thinking of both the supageek and Joe Moviegoer. ”We knew the hardcore fans would get it instantly but a good design also has to appeal to people who really don’t give a shit about the franchise, they just go to see a movie and they actually like it. We had to make sure we included all those people in it as well.”
Check out the whole visit/interview right here and when you’re done, be sure to check out the official Aliens Vs. Predator: Requiem site, which just got a major overhaul. For once I’m actually looking forward to Christmas!
