A Horrorfest in Your Town?

After Dark Horrorfest! The real problem with film festivals has always been the same: They’re only held in one location, and unless you really plan ahead for them (i.e., travel, lodging, food, hookers), you end up missing out on genre films that you’ve been dying to see on the big screen.

Courtney Solomon of After Dark Films, who just recently signed a production deal with Lionsgate (more on that here), is aiming to change all that with the first-ever After Dark Horrorfest, a unique cinematic experience that will show up in 500 theaters in 35 major U.S. cities starting on November 17th. Eight brand-new horror films will premiere in one weekend, and for once you won’t need gas money and the intestinal fortitude required to subsist on nothing but fast food to see them!

Fangoria has found out what 7 of those 8 films will be, some of which you’ve probably been hearing about for years and some that are brand new. Mike Mendez’s Gravedancers (review) is one of the former, as is Nacho Cerda’s The Abandoned, Taksahi Shimizu’s Reincarnation, and the Jamie-Lynn (“The Sopranos”) Sigler starring vehicle Dark Ride. Among the latter list are titles like The Hamiltons, Penny Dreadful, and Unrest.

The eighth and final film has yet to be determined, but be sure to keep your eyeballs on the After Dark Horrorfest official site so you can know what it will be first! Oh, and if you fancy yourself a hot horror chick, be sure to seek info on their site for the Miss Horrorfest Contest, the grand prize of which is $50,000 cash!
