Trick ‘R Treat in October? Maybe.

Trick r Treat poster (click to see it bigger!)Hey! Remember that flick by Michael Dougherty that we were so excited about this year (“Exclusive: Trick ‘r Treat Set Visit!” – April 2007)? Remember when it was supposed to come out this past Halloween, but went missing?

There were rumors that the pic was going to be released in February of ’08, and that just sounded horrible. Sure, it would be out sooner but a film about Halloween shouldn’t come out around Valentine’s Day, that’s just stupid.

A new rumor surfaced recently from AICN‘s Harry Knowles. During his annual “Butt-Numb-A-Thon” Harry screened a number of movies, including Michael Doughtery’s Trick ‘R Treat. Harry also announced that the film would be seeing an October 2008 release date!

Not being ones to just follow Mr. Knowles’ word, we contacted Mr. Dougherty directly and asked him if this was true. His response to us was, “Actual release date is still TBD, but HOPING for Oct ’08.” So there ya have it … a big maybe. That’s better than random speculation, for sure.

It’d better come out in October. Any other time is absolute jackassery of a high level.

  • The Butcher

    To add:
Actually Caine…you have a very valid point about it’s release date and it coinciding with the holiday it’s based on. BUT…by that time most people interested in seeing it could well have it.

Hopefully they can keep a lock on it until release. I for one am willing to wait.

    “Hoping for Oct. 2008”????

And studios wonder why internet DLing affect their box office reciepts. Dumb asses.

This flick already has massive word of mouth which works two ways. Get it released in a timely fashion and genre fans turn out in decent numbers. Or let a film with lots of word of mouth languish in release date hell then wonder why no one goes when it finally hits theaters…

So the best case scenario right now is another year of waiting? =’s RETARD-O VISION!

Kudos to them for finally deciding to release this around the holiday that it is based on. It’s just a crying shame that they decided to do it for next Halloween, as opposed to this past one as originally intended.
