Know what makes us happy here at Dread Central? Violence! Eviscerations, slashed throats, skinned bodies, broken bones, things like this just make us smile. Especially when said violence is mucho over-the-top! Such is the case with Darren Ward’s upcoming film, A Day of Violence.
Darren updated Fangoria on the progress of his upcoming attempt at painting the screen red!
“A Day of Violence is uncompromising in its depiction of criminal brutality,” says Ward. “I wouldn’t class it as being in the new ‘torture porn’ genre, but we don’t shy away from the red stuff. When it flows, it gushes. I have always been influenced by Argento, Fulci and Deodato—not only in their approach to violence and death, but also their visual style and pacing. On this movie, so far 90 percent has been shot on Steadicam, and I hope that lends itself to the overall feel of the picture. When things turn nasty, we swap to handheld.”
That last statement makes me a bit queasy. Hopefully the shaky-cam wont be too out of hand. Please, let us see what’s going on!
Filming on A Day of Violence is on target to being completed by the end of this year. Hit the link above for pictures and more.
