William Peter Blatty - Exorcist Mini-Series News 'Utterly False'

William Peter Blatty - Exorcist Mini-Series News 'Utterly False'Well now. Here's a bit of a shocker. A few days ago news broke that Sean Durkin, the writer-director of last year’s Martha Marcy May Marlene, was adapting The Exorcist into a ten-episode television series, backed by Morgan Creek and produced by Roy Lee. Or so it seemed.

Today, however, Bleeding Cool reports that they've been contacted by author William Peter Blatty, who let them know that said news was "utterly false." According to Blatty, it would be impossible for Morgan Creek to produce the show as the rights still belong to Blatty himself.

If you remember, back in 2009 Blatty announced that he and director William Friedkin were planning to do something with those rights, which means that we might still see another Exorcist. Blatty indicated to the site that this is still a potential plan, though not one that has come to fruition yet.

That being said, either the previous story was a fake or we can smell a legal battle in the air, folks. Stay tuned.

Thats excellent news. What the hell would the mini series be about anyway? Im all for another sequal though. Maybe a followup to part 3, or The Beginning. I didnt care much for Dominion. Just please Warner do not even try and remake the original.
