Dark Country Gets Rolling

Thomas Jane to direct Dark CountryThomas Jane has finally gotten behind the camera for his long-awaited directorial debut, The Dark Country, a noir thriller that will be released on both standard and 3-D formats when it’s all said and done according to Daily Variety.

Ron Perlman and Lauren German (Hostel Part II) star in the film, about a couple who find their honeymoon to be a hellish adventure after they discover an unconscious man by the side of the road who, when he comes to, begins freaking out. The husband is forced to put him down, but that is only the beginning of their problems…

The Dark Country is part of the newly-established genre arm of Sony, Stage 6 Films, and will be distributed through Sony on both regular and 3-D platforms when it’s all done, marking it as one of the first films to be shot for both. Can’t wait to see how this one turns out as Jane is a fan favorite and almost anything he does these days is cool.

Hmmm, I wonder if Tom Jane will finally be able to put down the coke straw for a little bit while shooting this.

Is this based in any way on the Dennis Etchison short story? Sounds like it might be, but it’s been a while since I read it. I heard it’s filming in New mexico, and I think the short story was set in Mexico…?
