The cold war is over, but its secrets are about to infect the world. The phrase “Silence is deadly” never meant more. Dark Sector Zero is a sort of prequel book for the impending video game from D3, available for Play Station 3 and Xbox 360 January 22nd. Gritty pens and monochromatic colors punch up an air of desperation in the tale while it’s dreamlike flow hammers home that this is a retelling of dark events. The style will probably turn off fans of your standard “men in tights” books, but the artistic bent will certainly grab the attention of indie fans. As far as “commercial” books for upcoming media releases, this is a strong outing and would do well with story development. In short, I’d love to see more!
The story is strong enough to be engaging with a hefty shot of intrigue, action, monster carnage and the inevitable governmental backstabbing. No doubt playing through the game will unravel much if this tale, so it’s up to the comic creators to pick up that flaming demon skull and run with it. Here’s the official word on it;
Created by Digital Extremes, Dark Sector is a new and original action-thriller video game. Enter the world of Hayden Tenno, a black ops agent sent on a mission into Lasria, an Eastern European city that hides a deadly secret. Attacked by an unknown enemy, he awakens infected but granted with inhuman abilities. Now, Hayden must learn to evolve, survive and become a hero.
Written by acclaimed creator David Wohl (Witchblade, Aphrodite IX) and illustrated by living legend Bill Sienkiewicz (Elektra: Assassin, Moon Knight), this special prequel provides an unseen look into the hit game.
