Werewolves Take Over in Benighted
Could it be we’re looking down the barrel of a good werewolf movie again?
I know it’s hard to contemplate, but sometimes you just have to hope, you know? Daily Variety got word that Graham King (producer on The Departed and Blood Diamond to name a few) is serving producing duties on Benighted, an adaptation of the book of the same name written by Kit Whitfield that may be helmed by Chronicles of Narnia frontman Andrew Adamson. A Perfect Murder penner Patrick Kelly Smith is handling writing duties.
The book, which is out now through Random House (get it here), takes place in an alternate reality where 90% of the population are werewolves and humans are tasked with keeping things peaceful during the full moon. Central character Lola is a member of said police force who’s investigating a series of suspicious murders.
How the hell will they pull off such a large-scale transformation? The mind reels. Since there are serious names behind it it’s probably safe to assume we won’t be looking at another Blood & Chocolate or Skinwalkers faux werewolf tale; all I ask is for some badass lycanthropes fucking shit up.
We’ll be on top of this one so don’t let those eyeballs wander!
