The Afterblight Chronicles: School's Out Makes the Leap to the Big Screen
Somehow we managed to skip past Armageddon and the inevitable collapse of mankind. However, Multistory Films thought we could use a little more preparation for doomsday and have announced that they have optioned The Afterblight Chronicles story "School's Out" and have named Oliver S. Milburn as the writer.
Multistory Films looks to be coming out of the gate strong, having wrapped on their first feature, which was written as well as directed by Milburn. So obviously they like what he's doing so far, which says good things for this adaptation.
Emma Biggins, a producer at Multistory, had this to say about Milburn: "We are delighted to be working with Oliver again. He is a fresh new talent who proved himself as both a writer and director on The Harsh Light of Day. He knows his genres, is consistently full of ideas, and has outlined an exciting, action-packed screenplay with a strong cultural subtext for 'School's Out'."
For fans of the original book, Multistory has promised to stay true to its character, going as far as bringing in Scott Andrews, the novel's original author, to act as script consultant.
