The Steven Quale-directed Final Destination 5 brings together an ensemble cast that includes Emma Bell and Nick D’Agosto, along with Miles Fisher (TV’s "Mad Men" and "Gossip Girl"), Arlen Escarpeta (Friday the 13th), Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (TV’s "The Bold and the Beautiful"), P.J. Byrne (Dinner for Schmucks) and Ellen Wroe (TV’s "Huge"). Rounding out the rest of the cast are Courtney B. Vance (TV’s "Flash Forward," "ER"), David Koechner ("The Office," Anchorman) and Final Destination franchise icon Tony Todd (Hatchet II).

Death arrives in theatres on August 12th. Check out the newly launched official Final Destination 5 website for more.

I'm really glad to see Tony Todd back in this one I liked him in the first two and was upset when he wasnt in 3 or 4...

This trailer suprises the hell out of me, with how 4 was I was kind of exspecting 5 to be pretty crappy, I'm happy to see this one looks like its going to be really good, or at least I am hoping for that

It would be nice if they exsplor more in to why death does what it does, I'm really intrested in seeing some stuff get fleshed out in this one, and of course looking forward to the gore.

Okay I'm happy to see that the opening is more epic than parts 3 and 4.

This also seems to be going in a direction that the franchise should have gone by part 3 or better with part 2: Explain the mythos, shed some light on the idea of Death coming for you. Is it coincidence? Fate? Is Death a real entity?

A big one I'd like to see: What are the consequences if they don't die?

If this film goes into this kinda stuff, I'll certainly give it a look as there's some rich story territory that has yet to be exploited.

"What are the consequences if they don't die?"

On a similar note, I've always wondered why they never posed the question: what happens if someone who should die in the movie's Big Accident/Disaster survives and then goes on to kill - either deliberately or accidentally - a person who shouldn't die now?

What does Death do when it's faced with an individual who is alive but should be dead and a second person who should be alive but is now dead thanks to the first person's involvement? Two Death-related SNAFUs for the price of one.

Totally agree.

This is the kinda thing that gives the Final Destination franchise some deeper, richer story territory than pretty much any other horror franchise. There's a lot of stuff to explore.

Imagine a serial killer is supposed to die in the opening disaster but survives thanks to some psychic kids meddling. That can go into some pretty deep, butterfly effect type scenarios. Then you get a cool twist with the main characters trying to KILL someone to save everyone.

That last bit with the guy full of needles falling over was pretty sweet.

I really hope they push the gore gag envelope with this one.

No way, dude. It'll take them at least half a dozen more films to perfect the forumla. I'll hold off until Final Destination 11 by which time they will have achieved Plato's perfect Final Destination film.
