Shutter Island Opens Doors Later
Delays, delays, delays. We all hate them, but sometimes they're very necessary. Yet, other times they're just plain weird. Paramount has bumped Martin Scorsese's new film Shutter Island until 2010, leaving their fall slate empty with the exception of Peter Jackson's The Lovely Bones.
According to THR Paramount Pictures Chairman and CEO Brad Grey had this to say regarding the postponement, "Our 2009 slate was greenlit in a very different economic climate, and as a result we must remain flexible and willing to recalibrate and adapt to a changing environment. Martin Scorsese is not just one of the world's most significant filmmakers, but also a personal friend. Following a highly successful 2009, we have every confidence that 'Shutter Island' is a great anchor to lead off our 2010 slate and the shift in date is the best decision for the film, the studio and ultimately Viacom."
Okay. Still a bit of a dubious move though. Look for Shutter Island in theatres on February 19th, 2010.
