IFC Takes On Antichrist
Well, no one can accuse IFC Films of being unwilling to promote controversial properties. This morning the company announced it is picking up Lars von Trier's Antichrist, which has without a doubt been the most talked about movie at this year's Cannes Film Festival.
The Hollywood Reporter quotes IFC Entertainment president Jonathan Sehring as follows: "Since it premiered at Cannes on Monday, we haven't been able to stop talking or thinking about Antichrist." He's certainly not alone. Click here for just a small sample of the type of criticism that has been leveled at von Trier and the film, and judge for yourselves based on the trailer and three clips from Premiere below.
According to THR, the film's marketplace potential remains to be seen. The sheer volume of press could provide a boost to attendance, though it's an open question whether that, along with the smallish cadre of die-hard von Trier fans, will be enough to make it a profitable theatrical and VOD release.
Only time will tell, but I have a feeling this one's gonna divide folks pretty evenly right down the middle.

A third Ghostbusters movie has been speculated about, rumored about, talked about for years. To hear Dan Aykroyd talk, rumor may finally becoming reality and ghosts may be getting busted once more come Christmas.

Go IFC for not backing away... slowly making eye contact with no one... I am still keen to see this film, the more clips the more intrigued I am about the psychological aspects of the film.

I give IFC a lot of credit, too. They have really been stepping up their game lately. They might be a good match with Grace since it's definitely not one for the mainstream masses either.
