Leighton Meester to Become a Roommate

The tale of Roommate is a strange one. During the filming of The Strangers, one of its producers, Sonny Mallhi, saw fit to write his own horror flick under an assumed named so that the script would be treated fairly in the marketplace. The script was for a thriller called Roommate, which ended up being picked up by Sony/Screen Gems. Many months later the casting process has begun, and the first person in talks to be on board is Leighton Meester of "The Gossip Girl".

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news tonight that Meester could be playing Sara, a college student who is randomly assigned to a freshman dorm with a stranger named Rebecca. Things turn deadly when Rebecca becomes obsessed and begins targeting people in Sara's life.

Sounds like Single White Female with a tweener-twist to me. Denmark native Christian E. Christiansen is on board to direct. More as it comes.
