Why are they redoing Escape to Witch Mountain? I’ve not seen the film in years, but I clearly remember enjoying it a lot when I did see it, being a good mix off dark elements and kid’s adventure film that needed no improving upon. But even Disney is not above remaking themselves, it seems.
The Hollywood Reporter got the word that Andy Fickman, who directed She’s the Man, Muskrat Love and Pool Rats (the latter two are still in various stages of production) has been brought on board to direct the redux, shortened to simply Witch Mountain for whatever reason.
The original film was about a pair of siblings with supernatural powers to are on the run from some sleazy millionaire looking to exploit them, and the misadventures they get in while trying to be free, helping out the one person willing to help them at the same time. How the remake will be handled is beyond me, but we can tell you that it was penned by The Wild screenwriter Matt Lopez, if that helps.
Didn’t think so. Keep it here for more on this odd remake news as we learn it.
