This Halloween, Inkshares is debuting its biggest terror tale of the year, Kill Creek by Scott Thomas, a psychological horror book with a literary twist. Kill Creek evokes the unnerving, atmospheric terror essential to greats like Shirley Jackson and Stephen King–a haunting that lingers long after turning the last page.

Kill Creek hits bookstores and all the usual online outlets on October 31st. You can pre-order the novel now from Amazon; in the meantime, read on to learn more!

From the Press Release:
It was supposed to be a simple publicity stunt: four best-selling horror authors spending Halloween night in one of the country’s most legendary haunted houses. But as the hours tick by, the writers suspect that the house is studying them, listening to their conversations, peering into their souls.

One year later these authors’ worlds are turned upside down when they discover that they are slaves to an ominous entity that is forcing them to write the exact same book. Now the only way to stop this infestation of evil is by returning to the house that started it all. These very different men have devoted their lives to the macabre; yet, nothing they have written can prepare them for what waits at Kill Creek.

Kill Creek is a novel of supernatural suspense that builds to a horrifically violent climax. Like the house at its center, the novel studies the strengths and weaknesses of its four protagonists, forcing them into a final, terrifying confrontation.

Born in Coffeyville, Kansas, author Scott Thomas’ small hometown became the inspiration for Kill Creek, the novel’s setting pulling from real, overgrown, and eerie local haunts in southeastern Kansas. Thomas is co-creator and executive producer of Disney Channel’s “Best Friends Whenever,” and he has written TV movies and teleplays for various networks including MTV, VH1, The CW, CMT, Nickelodeon, and ABC Family. Recently he co-wrote the MTV horror trilogy “My Super Psycho Sweet 16” and was nominated for a Daytime Emmy for his work on “R.L. Stine’s The Haunting Hour.”

Synopsis:
When best-selling horror author Sam McGarver is invited to spend Halloween night in one of the country’s most infamous haunted houses, he reluctantly agrees. At least he won’t be alone; joining him are three other masters of the macabre, writers who have helped shape modern horror. But what begins as a simple publicity stunt will become a fight for survival—the entity they have awakened will follow them, torment them, threatening to make them a part of the bloody legacy of Kill Creek.
