My heart sank just hearing the news. My whole life I looked up to this master and was always awestruck when in his presence. A genius who changed the face of a genre and gave us classics that will forever be in our hearts and stimulate our senses.
I had the honor of meeting Mr. Romero many years ago at the New York Horror film festival where I was the host and he was awarded the prestigious lifetime achievement award and we felt like we were in the presence of royalty, because we were.
I know we all grew up watching his classic films, but it was also his kindness and sincere soul that captured us all. He could just lend a smile and you felt a connection like no other. To say that he will be missed is an understatement, but he lives on through his magnificent art.
