E3 2017: Nintendo Switch Version of Skyrim Receiving The Legend of Zelda Content

I’ve spent literally hundreds and hundreds of hours exploring the land of Skyrim, so it really does make me aglow to know that Bethesda are keeping one of my favorite games of all time alive.

In addition to the recent remaster of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on PS4 and Xbox One, Bethesda will be bringing their fantasy RPG masterpiece to the Nintendo Switch towards the end of this year. As the Switch is a console/handheld hybrid, it still blows my mind that we’re getting a handheld version of such a gigantic and technologically advanced game.

The best thing about the Switch version is that it will feature the blue Champion’s Tunic worn by Link in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, along with the Master Sword and Hylian Shield from the Zelda franchise. This content will be accessible via Link’s Breath of the Wild Amiibo figure.

The Legend of Zelda also happens to be one of my favorite gaming franchises of all time, although I will admit that it will be strange seeing such a family friendly series crossing over with something as violent and bloody as Skyrim. Although it will be cool to finally see the Master Sword slicing through human flesh. I guess this is the closest we’ll ever come to an M-rated Legend of Zelda game.

Could this cross promotion lead to more collaborations between Bethesda and Nintendo? I sure hope so.

In addition to coming to the Switch, we also learned from E3 that a new VR version of Skyrim will be coming to the PS4 in the near future. I always thought that Skyrim was immersive enough, but I’m curious to see how it will work in the medium of virtual reality.
