Ron Fortier’s Brother Bones: The Undead Avenger Aiming to Become a Live-Action Film

Published

on

Comic author Ron Fortier may be best known for his work on titles such as “Green Hornet” or “The Terminator”. However, he also wrote a series of novels by the name of Brother Bones, which were pulp supernatural horror/adventure stories that followed an undead avenger.

Talking about the creation of the character, Fortier explains, “Brother Bones the Undead Avenger is a character I created over ten years ago. I just wanted to do my own homage to such great gun-totting vigilantes like the Shadow and the Spider. Little did I realize he would become so popular with our readers. They are forever clamoring for more of his macabre adventures.

Daniel Husser, co-founder of Franklin-Husser Entertainment LLC, comments, “When Erik first showed me the book I immediately thought that Brother Bones would make a great movie. The story is dark and full of action, so it’s perfect for us. Since we are working with Ron Fortier’s creation, it is absolutely important to us that we stay faithful to the text. Many adaptations tend to change too much, damaging the original concept and we don’t want that to happen.

Co-founder Erik Franklin adds, “New Pulp has such untapped potential. There are so many vibrant, original characters that would be perfect for a cinematic adaption. Brother Bones has all that you could want in a story: exciting visuals, well-drawn characters, and each page is a cliff-hanger.

After watching a two-minute test video, Fortier knew that an adaptation was something that needed to happen. “It virtually blew me away,” Fortier says. “Erik and Daniel had condensed in just two minutes what it had taken me almost four chapters to establish. They immediately captured the essence of the character and watching him come to life in that clip convinced me these two guys are going to make a fantastic Brother Bones feature. I couldn’t be more excited,
” he gushes.

Franklin and Husser are aiming to make a movie that is hard-R, one that will feature a lot of violent content. They will also be taking inspiration from films such as The Godfather, The Shadow, The Roaring Twenties, and The Crow. However, in order to make this film, the group needs to raise $100k on Kickstarter.

So, if you want to see this project become a reality, head on over to Kickstarter to lend your support.

Synopsis:
Tommy Bonello is a hitman for crime boss Topper Wyld. When Wyld orders an attack on his own bordello in order to start a mob war, Tommy and his twin brother Jack jump at the chance. However, when an innocent girl is killed in the crossfire, Tommy is tormented with supernatural visions and nightmares. Fearing for his sanity, Tommy renounces his violent ways and becomes a monk. However, Jack and Topper have other plans…

Want a LEGO Godzilla Set? Here’s Your Chance!

Published

on

The longest-running franchises in cinema history, the Godzilla films have created a cultural icon in the form of the titular beast. Simply hearing its roar or seeing its silhouette is enough to let us know precisely what we’re looking at. Having ventured out of cinema and forayed into TV shows, comic books, video games, and countless merchandise options, Godzilla still hasn’t managed to break into one of the world’s most popular toy company: LEGO. However, that might change if BRICK_101 has their say via LEGO Ideas, where they submitted a design based on the 1954 original film!

Here’s the description from the site:
This model contains approximately 850 LEGO pieces, stands 9 inches (23 cm) tall, and measures 17 inches (44 cm) from head to tail. Godzilla has had many different designs over the years, but we based ours on the original 1954 movie. The arms, legs, jaw, and tail are hinged to allow the model to be posed in a variety of positions. In addition to Godzilla, the set also includes a small microscale train for Godzilla to stomp on or chomp on and a flame piece to represent Godzilla’s atomic breath.

The website allows people to submit their own ideas (such as this Call of Cthulhu set) and then allow the public to vote on whether or not they want to see it get made. Should the idea get 10,000 votes, it then gets moved up the ladder within LEGO’s headquarters and a decision is made to see if they want to make an official set.

So, if you want to see LEGO make an official Godzilla set, click on the link above and cast your vote!
