Now that I’ve read the book, I can tell you irrefutably that it’s not horror, but we’re still talking about a Peter Jackson film here so it’s hard to ignore.
Variety reported today that Rachel Weisz (The Mummy, Constantine) has been tapped by Jackson to star in his next film, The Lovely Bones, based on the novel of the same name by Alice Sebold. Weisz will play the mother of a young girl who goes missing and is feared dead, which in fact she is, watching her family and friends deal with their loss in increasingly strange ways from her own private heaven.
Shooting on The Lovely Bones, which will take place in Pennsylvania and New Zealand, is scheduled to begin in October. We’ll be keeping you up-to-date on the film’s progress as much as we can!
