Wes Craven has finally settled on a director and writer for the remake of his own grindhouse classic, Last House on the Left. As we reported back here, he has finally managed to get Hardcore director Dennis Iliadis to helm the pic, with Adam Alleca (The Drowning Man, which we first told you about here) working on the script, according to Variety.
Craven will executive producer through is own Midnight Pictures label, the Last House on the Left redux being the first of many films the former director has plans to get off the ground through the banner, which has a distro deal with Rogue Pictures.
Craven told the trade that the remake will retain the spirit of the original, but didn’t go into any details as to what director Iliadis would actually bring to the project. Alleca is working on another film with Midnight Pictures, Home, and has discussed possibly penning the People Under the Stairs remake Craven plans to mount once Last House is done.
So after years of waiting the decision has finally been made; now we’ll just have to hope it was a good one!
