Another Grindhouse?

Roth wants another GrindhouseI guess if there’s someone out there who could possibly bring back Grindhouse to the attention of The Weinsteins, it’s Eli Roth. The horror wunderkind has some kind of odd influence over the system thanks to the success of Hostel and will likely have even more if Hostel Part II does well next month.

Roth recently talked to Rotten Tomatoes about getting the Weinsteins interested in a second Grindhouse experience, this time with Roth doing Thanksgiving and Edgar Wright doing Don’t. The beauty of that to the Weinsteins, who are still scratching their heads at the flop of the first Grindhouse, is that both films could be shot on the cheap, the way grindhouse movies are supposed to be, and Roth said he doesn’t even need a full script for his:

“We have the outline, the story ideas, but part of the fun of Grindhouse is actually not having a script,” Roth told the site. “I wouldn’t want to write it too detailed. You’ve just got to work out the kills and then see who’s around and grab a camera and have fun.”

Sounds pretty smart to me; let’s just hope Roth can get the Weinsteins to get behind it as well and that both directors have the time to make their respective films. Keep it here for more as it develops!
