Paramount has always taken a strange approach toward the horror genre, haven’t they? We all know how the studio treated their Friday the 13th cash-cow in the 80s and, with the exception of a few titles here and there, they pretty much sat sidelined for the genre’s post-Scream resurgence. That’s what makes today’s news of a possible horror release out of their gates all the more surprising.
Deadline tells us that Paramount is developing a script for a project titled School of Horrors with writer George Kay and director Jim Field Smith. The pitch is ”Home Alone in Hogwarts” which could either be an excellent idea or a profoundly stupid one.
Paramount is hoping to shoot sometime in 2011, meaning their horror quota is likely to be filled for the next six or seven years if they stay true to form.
