Originally published by DC Comics back from 2004-2005 (although the rights to the series are now owned by PaperFilms Inc), The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that the 12 issue comic series The Monolith, from writers Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti, will be heading to the big screen. Dave Wilson, who works as the creative director for Blur Studio (which was co-founded by Deadpool director Tim Miller) will be making his directional debut on the film, although he’s  already worked on a ton of video games.

In the comic, a former addict discovers the diary of his late grandmother, in which she describes how she created a golem called the Monolith to slay those who harm the innocent. 20 Mississippi writer Barnett Brettler will script the adaptation, which will be distributed by Lionsgate.
