Production wrapped up at the tail end of last year on Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, which will tell the final story in the saga of Alice Abernathy. As we learned some time ago, Alice (a returning Milla Jovovich) will return to Raccoon City in the film, and today brings new plot details.

As reported by Latino Review, teaser footage shown at Sony’s CinemaCon presentation in Las Vegas confirmed that Resident Evil: The Final Chapter will wrap up Alice’s long-running story, and it featured “quick glimpses of zombies, monsters, explosions and gunfire,” along with “new costume looks for Alice, Claire Redfield and Albert Wesker.”

But what about those new plot details?

An airborne virus may reverse or end the whole zombie apocalypse,” the site ascertained, based on the footage.

Color us intrigued!

Resident Evil: The Final Chapter was written and directed by Paul W.S. Anderson and also stars series regulars Iain Glen, Ali Larter, and Shawn Roberts in addition to newcomers Lee Joon-gi, Rola, William Levy, and Ruby Rose.

Look for it on January 27, 2017.

Synopsis:
Picking up immediately after the events in Resident Evil: Retribution, humanity is on its last legs after Alice is betrayed by Wesker in Washington, D.C. As the only survivor of what was meant to be humanity’s final stand against the undead hordes, Alice must return to where the nightmare began – Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Corporation is gathering its forces for a final strike against the only remaining survivors of the apocalypse.

In a race against time, Alice will join forces with old friends and an unlikely ally in an action-packed battle with undead hordes and new mutant monsters. Between losing her superhuman abilities and Umbrella’s impending attack, this will be Alice’s most difficult adventure as she fights to save humanity, which is on the brink of oblivion.
