Today is not only St. Patrick’s Day but also the 16th anniversary of Final Destination‘s original theatrical release. The film, which began its life as a proposed episode of “The X-Files,” was created and co-written by Jeffrey Reddick, and Reddick celebrates the anniversary by releasing a deeply personal music video short he directed.

With Divine Cure, Reddick and acclaimed Australian musician BP Major tackle true horror.

The video is based on the true story of a buddy of mine, Jake Johnson, who was sent to a gay conversion camp at 9 years old and was brutalized for 4 years,” Reddick told us. “What goes on in many of these camps is barbaric. I love writing about fake horror, but the horror we inflict on others often pales in comparison.

Many people still believe that a person’s sexual orientation can be changed,” he continued. “They talk about perverts and deviants, without realizing they’re often saying these things in front of their gay children. I’ve found the horror community to be very accepting, which I’m grateful for. And I love our genre because we can often tackle real world issues in a unique way.”

Take a few minutes out of your day and check out the video below.
