Documentary Beware the Slenderman Coming to HBO; Poster Revealed

The bone-chilling character known as Slenderman is the most iconic villain ever created by the internet, and he made headlines back in 2014 when two young girls stabbed a classmate nearly twenty times and claimed that Slenderman made them do it. Horrifying? You bet. And now the story is getting its own documentary.
Ahead of its premiere at SXSW this Friday, March 11, the folks over at Indiewire got their hands on the official poster art for Beware the Slenderman, directed by Irene Taylor Brodsky. The documentary is headed our way courtesy of HBO Documentary Films, and we invite you to check out the spooky art below.
In Beware the Slenderman, Brodsky uses the fictional figure to explore not only the effect that internet lore has on real-life actions, but also how the digital age is saturating the imagination and actions of children. The director reportedly got exclusive access to the families of both girls charged with the crime.
Synopsis:
On May 31st, 2014, in the woods outside of Waukesha, Wisconsin, two 12-year old girls stabbed their classmate 19 times. This is the true story of what drove them to do it.
