DTV Fate for Rogue

Now this is just wrong. The Weinstein Company has changed its release plans for Greg (Wolf Creek) McLean’s giant croc film Rogue, sources at Fangoria learned today.

Instead of throwing it into theaters on April 20th, which was the last semi-official update we had on the project, they’ve paid too close attention to Primeval’s box office numbers and decided to dump it direct-to-DVD on May 20th. Coincidentally (ahem), Primeval has a DVD street date sometime in June, showing signs that Dimension is hoping to at least do better than the ill-fated giant croc movie in the home video market.

Though there’ve only been a few people that have seen Rogue, including a Fango contributor who posted his thoughts here, the word has been nothing but positive for the film so far. How typical, then, that Dimension would treat its next big horror feature (well, after Grindhouse) like a redheaded stepchild. Hell, they missed a possible cash cow by screwing over the Feast release, so why not?

Stay tuned for more details on the DVD release as we learn it!
