Ridley Scott returns to the universe he helped create with Alien: Covenant, a sequel to Prometheus that will serve as the first in a trilogy of films leading up to the events of the original 1979 classic. Many questions loom overhead, but here’s a big one. Will Noomi Rapace be back?

Per XPose, Scott reportedly just confirmed that the actress won’t be reprising the role of Elizabeth Shaw, and they credit The Daily Mail as the source of the quote.

According to the site, Scott answered a flat “no” when asked about Rapace’s involvement and noted that he and his team are “still casting the main roles.”

In Alien: Covenant, Katherine Waterston will star alongside Michael Fassbender.

Specific plot details for the new film are being closely guarded, but it is believed to follow the crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet, who discover what they believe is an uncharted paradise but is, in fact, a dark, dangerous world, the only inhabitant of which is David (Fassbender), the “synthetic” and survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

The film is set for release on October 6, 2017.
