Over a decade after The Amityville Horror franchise was given the remake treatment, it’s getting a fresh new reboot in the form of Amityville: The Awakening. Originally scheduled for release last year, it was bumped back to this year, and now the date has been changed once more.

Dimension Films will release it wide on April 1st, 2016, as opposed to the previously announced date of April 15th. The 15th is Tax Day, so that’s enough horror for one day!

You’ll find the trailer below.

The film stars Bella Thorne, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Cameron Monaghan, Thomas Mann, Taylor Spreitler, Mckenna Grace, and Kurtwood Smith. Daniel Farrands and Casey La Scala co-wrote the script and produce with Jason Blum of hit factory Blumhouse. Franck Khalfoun (Maniac) directs.

Amityville: The Awakening has been rated “R” for strong horror violence and for language.

Synopsis:
Belle, her little sister, and her comatose twin brother move into a new house with their single mother, Joan, in order to save money to help pay for her brother’s expensive healthcare. But when strange phenomena begin to occur in the house, including the miraculous recovery of her brother, Belle begins to suspect her mother isn’t telling her everything and soon realizes they just moved into the infamous Amityville house.
