DVD and Blu-ray Releases: December 8, 2015

We have another slow week for you folks. While there are only 6 releases to really speak of, that number may be even lower when taking into consideration 1971’s Count Dracula. As you may already know, I try to verify my weekly lists through multiple reputable sellers to determine the best release date in the event of a discrepancy.

Well, this week is a split decision as to whether Count Dracula is releasing this week or next, so I’ve decided to simply list it for both weeks and leave it to you folks to comment and let us all know when you found it and preferably where. Honestly, if you find a copy of it this week, more power to you.

With regard to other classics, we’ve also got 1975’s Thundercrack! This is apparently the first official North American release of this movie in 40 years. It’s also described as “kinky.” So there’s that.

Without giving everything away, our release list this week also contains the third and final season of “Hannibal.” I know a lot of people were not pleased to see this show going off the air, but unfortunately that’s the ratings game. My condolences.

Don’t forget to check back next week for a much better selection, and as always, pleasant viewing.

Christopher Lee, Herbert Lom, Soledad Miranda, Maria Rohm, Klaus Kinski

Completely Uncut & Re-Mastered In HD For The First Time Ever

In 1970, cult director Jess Franco and screen legend Christopher Lee collaborated on what they promised would be the most faithful adaptation of Bram Stoker’s novel ever filmed. From its remarkable performances including Lee as the Count, Herbert Lom (Mark Of The Devil) as Van Helsing, Soledad Miranda (Vampyros Lesbos) as Lucy, Maria Rohm (Venus In Furs) as Mina, and authentic madman Klaus Kinski as Renfield to its lush locations and atmosphere of sinister sensuality, it remains perhaps the most spellbinding version of Dracula in movie history. Fred Williams (She Killed In Ecstasy) and Paul Muller (Nightmare Castle) co-star in this “thrilling” (Twins Of Evil) and “fascinating” (Arrow In The Head) horror classic, now fully restored, loaded with all-new Bonus Features, and re-mastered in high-definition for the first time ever.
