What’s in a name? A whole lot considering Ridley Scott’s latest foray into Alien territory has had several along the way. It changed again over the weekend for the 356th time so we decided to wait until an actual title was officially announced. It has been, along with a title treatment, synopsis, and even a release date! Huzzah!

The film is now called Alien: Covenant, and the only casting news we know of at press time is the return of Michael Fassbender’s synthetic character, David, who didn’t fare so well by the end of Prometheus. Look for the film in theaters on October 6, 2017.

Synopsis:
Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in ALIEN with ALIEN: COVENANT, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with PROMETHEUS — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but it is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
